What is RED Wave Initiative?
RED WAVE Initiative is the project run by AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia to address the rising prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Malaysia.


Our project objectives:
Ø      To educate and increase the awareness among students about HIV/AIDS.
Ø      To influence a behavioural change among young people that will result in a reduction in the number of HIV/AIDS cases among young people in Malaysia.
Ø      Deliver learning opportunities (workshops, working groups, exercises) that will promote the development of champions of HIV/AIDS prevention.

Our events like AIESEC AIDS in Action and AIESEC Walk will be conducted by our international AIESEC members coming from different countries.


Sub-activities:

Ø  Workshop
In schools and colleges, involve talk, games, discussion and distributing leaflets on HIV/AIDS.
Ø  Exhibition
In campus, provide information to students and staffs. Distribute leaflets and brochures.
Ø  Visits
Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri, Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, WAKE House, PT Foundation and etc.


Execution plan/ Event details

Stage 1: International Interns Arrival and Introduction
Stage 2: HIV/AIDS and cultural training
Stage 3: Contact Schools/ Organizing events and workshops
Stage 4: Conduct events and workshops

Intern's Job Description:

  1. Be involve in brainstorming for learning activities to plan, design and prepare workshops related to HIV/AIDS education to raise awareness among peers and youths based on a holistic education model provided by Standard Chartered Bank.
  1. Conduct and facilitate workshops on HIV/AIDS education and awareness to peers, youths and communities and running a 6 weeks HIV/AIDS awareness campaign.
  1. Be ready to be involved in sales and marketing in order to sustain the event/project and promoting HIV/AIDS.
  1. Gather information about the reality of HIV/AIDS in your country and have sharing with peers, youths and communities.
  1. Generate new approach to create awareness to the secondary students.
  1. Be prepared to be part of any integration activities and cultural events and prepare all the materials needed such as costume, music, food etc.
