AIESEC is the international platform enabling young people to explore and develop their leadership potential for them to have a positive impact in society. Its innovative approach to developing young people focuses on taking a proactive role, developing self-awareness and personal vision, building networks, and developing capacity to drive change. AIESECs international platform of opportunities now provides over 5,000 leadership opportunities, more than 4,000 work abroad opportunities, 350 conferences, and virtual tools to build networks. AIESEC is the worlds largest student-run organization. It is global, non-political, independent, and not-for-profit. It comprises students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education interested in leadership, management and global issues. The organizations values forbid unfair discrimination, and its aim is to work towards the organizational vision of peace and the fulfillment of humankinds potential. Each country (sometimes group of countries, or territories within a country) with an AIESEC presence has its own national Member Committee (MC), which coordinates activities for that area. Members also belong to a Local Committee (LC) for each university or city.
It all began on the 16th January 1989 with our founder Pro-term Committee-President Mr Tan Sin Hock and also with the aid from Hal Ehwal Pelajar (HEP). In the beginning, the first objective was to gather all the vital AIESEC information ranging from the history of AIESEC Malaysia, history AIESEC international, AIESEC Marketing knowledge, AIESEC training manuals and many more which acts as the foundation. In the year 1991, the first ever board president was Mr Muhd Fizry Yusof as he continued the work with the establishment by his predecessors, the Pro-term Committees. The board tried its hardest in handiling projects and collaborating with other Local Committees throughout Malaysia. Overall at that particular time, AIESEC in UUM was mainly focusing on making business contacts and conduct training sessions to educate its members on AIESEC knowledge. The second man on board was also none other than Mr A.Ram Kumar as the president in the year 1992. AIESEC in UUM has its foundation of the necessary knowledge required to spearhead into the future. It was the time, AIESEC in UUM took its projects on its own, which has made its mark in activities of UUM students. Today, AIESEC in UUM still remains, still developing its youths, and still contributing to the society, making the world a better place.
